Tim Lohrenz has more than two decades of experience in higher education, leadership development, and experiential learning, helping individuals and teams grow in leadership, connection, and effectiveness. He is an executive coach, experiential educator, and founder of Headwaters Executive Coaching & Consulting, where he works with leaders and organizations to strengthen the competence and character needed for meaningful and sustainable growth.
Tim’s approach to leadership development is shaped by his background in executive coaching, experiential education, and adventure learning. He believes meaningful growth happens when people move beyond simply understanding new ideas and have opportunities to experience, practice, and integrate them into how they lead and relate to others. His work combines authentic relationships, thoughtful challenge, experiential learning, and practical application to help leaders recognize patterns, increase their capacity, and translate insight into meaningful change.
Before becoming a TLP Director, Tim spent five years as a participant in the Townsend Leadership Program. His own experience in TLP gave him a deep appreciation for the transformational potential of sustained growth within a community of challenge, grace, support, and accountability. He now brings that experience to leaders who want to grow not only in what they accomplish, but in who they are and how they show up in their work, relationships, and lives.
Tim holds a master’s degree in Executive Coaching from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine and a Master of Education in Adventure Learning from Plymouth State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Business Management from Rocky Mountain College and is a certified CliftonStrengths Coach.
Tim lives in Billings, Montana, with his wife, Cara, and their three children. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys challenging himself in the outdoors, exploring new places, and sharing adventures with his family.
